For Two Benefit Events in the SF Bay Area

PUBLIC TALK
Friday Evening, May 8, 2009
Arriving at Your Own Door: Mindfulness, Healing, and the “Full Catastrophe” of Everyday Life
First Unitarian Universalist Church
1187 Franklin St.
San Francisco, CA

In this talk, Jon Kabat-Zinn will reflect on practical lessons from his experience over the past 30 years working with a broad range of colleagues around the world to bring mindfulness as a universal expression and pathway of dharma into the mainstream of medicine, psychology, and society, and to document its potentially unique beneficial effects. We will focus primarily on exploring the heart of mindfulness as a practice, its relationship to both physical and emotional healing as documented by scientific studies, and on how to find both refuge and leverage within the practice for facing what Zorba the Greek called the full catastrophe of the human condition – and for working with it effectively, with self-compassion, kindness, and wisdom.

Cost: $30 - $100 Sliding Scaled
Proceeds to benefit Inquiring Mind
